Caren, Caren how does your Garden Grow

Purple Hull Peas Sticking out like antenna...

Cucumbers hiding in the leaves...

Baby watermelons growing bigger by the hour...

Tiny little tomatoes all in a row.

Schools out, the veggies are in... summer is here at last.

How does your garden grow?

I had my first harvest of green beans today.  It was a bumper crop.
This nice little bundle is actually enough for 2 meals.  I didn't expect them to be ready yet.  Talk about a nice surprise.  They tasted wonderful.  Our small English peas are about done, as is our lettuce.  We don't have a large garden.  We converted most of our front yard into a vegetable garden.  We can't grow grass ;)     In about 1 1/2 months I will be looking for new and interesting ways to fix green beans.  I am open to new recipes!

Rainbow Scrap Challenge
May's color for the scrap challenge is pink.  I have plenty of pink.  There should be no problem for this month.  In full disclosure I must admit.....I hate pink.  The only reason I have pink fabric is my two little darlings love pink!

My quilt Guild is having a quilt show first weekend in June.  I am real busy finishing up projects for that.  I think I can get 10 or 12 triangles finished for the scrap challenge.  I hope to have some pictures to show.  Until then....

Look What I found in my Garden

Look what I found in my garden.  Isn't it lovely!
Try not to look at all the leaves in the background;)  These are actually purple.  They would look great for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge.  I still haven't came across any purple.  Just a few tiny scraps here and there.  It is obviously not a color I use a lot!  Might have to sit this month out:(

I also harvested my lettuce this morning:)

I spent forever this morning washing it off.  Now I look forward to a monster sized salad for dinner.  Yum yum.

Saturday

I"m so happy it is Saturday.  It has been a busy week.  Thursday my Mommie turned 60.  We all got together for dinner.  I made the cake!
The little boxes are were the candles go.  I thought if I put 60 candles on the cake we might violate the fire code!! Daughter #2 has been sick all week.  She had a school play on Thursday.  We let her go for that.  Bad parents!

And Then I worked all week.
But look at this my garden is doing so well!!

The English peas are eaten young, straight off the vine.  They are so good!
This is our first attempt at lettuce.  I can't wait for them to get big enough to eat.  My goal is to not buy a canned veggie all Summer!

Spring is a great time for starting something new.....or a dozen things!

I am almost through with the Knight.  I worked on him an hour last night.  The deadline is Monday.  I think I will get him finished.  No pics until he's done!

I started a new "little" quilt Monday.  I wondered how difficult it would be to draw a paper pieced birdhouse block.  Turns out...not that difficult.  I forgot to take a pic of the drawing.
I did have a slight mistake with the right side of the roof.  The bottom slant is going in the wrong direction!  OOPs.  I'm thinking of adding a vine with 3D leaves and a flower.  A black button will be the opening.  I used red to keep in with the Rainbow Scrap Challenge.  I know most of the quilt is green.  I have had difficulty with using red this month!  I don't know why, I love red.

This is another project that has been keeping me busy.  We have started our Spring Garden.  These are nice veggies.  The tall ones are early peas.  My girls like to pick them, before they are ripe, and eat them straight off the vine.  The others are various tomatoes and carrots.  The bell peppers have another week before they start coming up.
Gotta go  the Quadratic Equation is calling!
